Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra to Perform at Classic Violin Olympus

7 February 2025

In both rounds of the Classic Violin Olympus Competition, the finalists will perform with orchestra accompaniment, allowing the jury to evaluate their ability to collaborate with other musicians and follow the conductor’s guidance. The finalists will also try on the role of the concertmaster which may be a challenge even for an experienced performer.

The orchestras performing with the finalists at Classic Violin Olympus are among the most prestigious in the world. The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra (ASSO) boasts a rich and diverse repertoire spanning multiple genres and performance formats, from symphonies and ballet to opera, popular music, cinematic scores, and jazz renditions of classical works. Under the leadership of their Artistic Director, ASSO has established four annual classical music festivals, hosting a range of internationally renowned virtuosos and conductors in Armenia.

The Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra is comprised of distinguished professors with extensive experience performing in some of Spain and Europe’s most prestigious orchestras. As part of the Excelentia Foundation of Madrid, the orchestra performs classical repertoire to the highest standard. It has graced major venues including the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid, the Zaragoza Auditorium, and the Auditori de Barcelona, among many others.

Finalists will have the unique opportunity not only to perform as soloists, but also to serve as concertmasters, leading these esteemed orchestras and sharing the stage with acclaimed musicians. This invaluable experience will enrich their musical background while refining the skills crucial for their professional development.
