Dates of Pre-selection Contests Officially Released

In April 2025, the emirate of Dubai in the UAE shall witness the launch of what is arguably the most exciting new violin competition to enter the world stage in recent years.

In April 2025, the emirate of Dubai in the UAE shall witness the launch of what is arguably the most exciting new violin competition to enter the world stage in recent years.

Taking place between the 22nd and 28th of the month, the invite-only event will feature a unique 23-person jury board exclusively made up of preeminent conductors and directors of acclaimed orchestras, festivals and concert series, with a record-breaking €310,000 total prize fund awaiting the best young violinists of our time.

Entry into this competition is only possible through participation in one of six pre-selection contests, all being held as part of the ‘Six Ways to Classical Violin Olympus’ project. Held throughout 2024 in Tokyo, Vienna, New York, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv, applicants need to rank within the top two spots in the final listings at any of these events in order to win eligibility to participate in the Grand Finale in Dubai. Now, organisers have just released the official dates and venues for each of these contests, which will be held across 2024  in the order shown below:

  • 17th to 21st March – Tokyo (Geidai School) 
  • 1st to 5th April – Vienna (Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna) 
  • 27th to 31st May – New York (Manhattan School of Music) 
  • 26th to 30th August – London (Royal College)
  • 9th to 13th September – Paris (École normale supérieure) 
  • 22nd to 26th September – Tel Aviv (Buchmann-Mehta School of Music) 

Each of these preliminary contests will carry a total prize fund of €35,000 and will be presided over by a 5-person jury board made up of various internationally-acclaimed artists from around the world.
