Programme of the competition

The Final Grand Competition in Dubai will consist of two obligatory parts:

Part 1

a)
Finalists may choose ONE of the followings concertos for violin with orchestra
  • L. van Beethoven Op. 61
  • J. Brahms Op. 77
  • P. I. Tchaikovsky Op. 35
  • J. Sibelius Op. 47
  • D. Shostakovich No. 1 Op. 77
b)
Finalists will lead an orchestra as concertmaster performing ONE of the following works:
  • R. Strauss: “Ein Heldenleben”;
  • J. S. Bach:
    “Matthäus-Passion” BWV 244. No. 39, “Erbarme Dich”
  • L. van Beethoven:
    “Missa Solemnis” - “Sanctus” – Benedictus
  • R. Strauss:
    “Der Bur̈ger als Edelmann” suite, No. 4,
    Auftritt und Tanz der Schneider:
  • P. I. Tchaikovsky:
    “Swan lake”, Act 2, No. 5. Pas d'action.
    Andante—Andante non troppo

Part 2

a)
First movement of the Triple concerto for violin, cello and piano with orchestra, Op. 56, in C major, by L. van Beethoven
b)
ONE of the following concertos by Alexey Shor:
  • Concerto No. 4
    in B minor
  • Concerto No. 5
    in C minor
  • “Carpe Diem”
    Concerto
c)
Any encore of the finalists’ choice
which does not exceed 5 minutes in duration
d)
Conversation / exchange /
